Left With Little Hope

A newly published Rasmussen Poll indicates that just 51% of American voters believe that the United States is the world’s last best hope for mankind.  I find this to be extraordinary for many reasons, but I am especially disturbed by the self loathing exhibited by those on the left end of the political spectrum.  The poll shows that conservatives “overwhelming” believe that our great nation is mankind’s last best hope, while 49% of our “Hope and Change” counterparts disagree.  Since only 29% of those on the left agree with us America loving conservatives, I think it is safe to assume that all their hopeful rhetoric is nothing more than a façade intended to disguise their intention to change or “transform” America into just another country.  For me, it is heartbreaking to read that only 37% of those under 30 years old believe the United States of America is the world’s light of liberty and prosperity.  Apparently, the left has been far too successful in convincing our younger generations that America is somehow fundamentally flawed and that hope is now to be found in other lands.  It is time for conservatives to be assertive in expounding the wondrous contributions the United States of America has made to promote life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness around the globe.  We must point out that our nation has done more good for more people than any other country that has ever existed on Earth.  This has been possible because we are a people of laws, a people who love individual freedom and a people that dream big and achieve bigger.  Yes, it is time for Americans to once again thump our chests and preach the virtues of capitalism, free markets and individual freedom and to feel proud of our role as the beacon of hope to the oppressed people of the world.  If we fail to act now, we will be left with little hope…just like the left.
