First Lady Michelle Obama is spearheading the “Let’s Move” campaign to tackle obesity, especially childhood obesity. It’s a noble cause as obesity is tied to several forms of illnesses, like heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. But relating this to national security?
“A recent study put the health care cost of obesity-related diseases at $147 billion a year,” Mrs. Obama said. “This epidemic also impacts the nation’s security, as obesity is now one of the most common disqualifiers for military service.”
I know that many liberals want to tax sodas and fast food, but why not tax video game consoles, televisions, and comfortable sofas? Maybe kids just need to get off their asses instead of playing video games all day. Seriously, levying taxes won’t do much. Children and parents need to be educated and accountable for their lifestyle decisions.
And according to Mrs. Obama, by staying fit you are securing the country as well!
