Clearly there’s no mandate

in Government

Remember in November 2008 when Barack Obama won the presidential election and all the talk about a mandate from the population? I insisted that there was no mandate. Neither did Obama won by a landslide.

But the liberals and Democrats maintained there was a mandate, that the American people wanted a path toward liberalism and socialism, more government programs, expansion of federal powers, etc. The Democrats having obtained majority in both the Senate and House, and with Obama the White House, were eager to please.

Thanks to the timing of an economic crisis, President Obama and Congress were able to rush through sweeping legislation to “rescue” the financial system at the cost of taking on unparalleled national debt in the trillions and higher taxes down the road. Most people gave them a pass, a chance to prove themselves. But the White House was wrong in its predictions. The economy worsened, unemployment numbers increased beyond the W.H. projection, and a bankrupt government took over bankrupt car companies.

Thinking they’d ride the wave of rushing their liberal agenda, a climate bill which conservatives dubbed “cap and tax” passed the House to the delight of Speaker Pelosi… and next came “ObamaCare,” the promise of affordable health care for all Americans courtesy of the federal government.

Well, Americans are awakened by this proposed health care bill. More government spending, higher taxes, diminished quality of care, all the while Americans are suffering in this recession.

Democrats clearly overplayed their hand, and it’s only halfway through an year.
