Does Scozzafava spell the end of GOP?

The NRCC sure stepped on a conservative ant hill that is the NY-23 special election. Even more mind boggling is that somebody like Newt Gingrich, a high profile Republican politician and so-called conservative champion, would happily stick his hands into the mob of ants.

Ouch. I bet that really hurts. Not just to Gingrich, but the Republican establishment in general.

Endorsement of Dede Scozzafava might be the beginning of an end of the establishment. Conservatives are mad as hell these days with liberal Democrats running the White House and Congress, and they will not tolerate the GOP backing of a liberal candidate such as Scozzafava when clearly a better alternative, Doug Hoffman, is in the race. Indeed, most conservatives today do not identify with the Republican Party at all.

The leaders of the NRCC and GOP better start to wrap their heads around this. The conservative movement is not their movement. Conservatives are intelligent and independent and pledge loyalty only to country and not party. Is the GOP too starved for power that it’s willing to disappoint its base in exchange for a House seat? For shame.
