Massa points finger at Democrat leaders

Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) has a theory: his own party’s leaders are behind the ethics investigation to force his resignation. According to the embattled congressman, House leaders and the White House weren’t too happy about his nay votes on health care and cap and trade, and have figured that getting rid of him would be easier than earning his vote to pass bills:

“There’s a reason that this has all happened, frankly one that I had not realized,” Massa said on WKPQ radio on Sunday. “Mine is now the deciding vote on the health care bill, and this administration and this House leadership have said, quote unquote, they will stop at nothing to pass this health care bill. And now they’ve gotten rid of me and it’ll pass.”

An intriguing conspiracy theory indeed. The White House and Democrat leadership have made it quite clear publicly that they will stop at nothing to pass a health care reform bill. We’ve seen it happen already in the Senate with the “Louisiana Purchase” and “Cornhusker Kickback” last year before Christmas. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was willing to bend the rules just to buy the votes to pass something.

This administration is not only a polarizing force among voters, but even among their own party members. Will others stand with Massa to send a strong message to the W.H. that they’ve had enough bullying? Will there be any sort of criticism of the strong handed tactics coming from the W.H.?

It’s ironic that when Barack Obama was elected, Pelosi and Reid both made public statements to affirm their leadership roles in Congress, and that they do not just follow the president’s instructions. Well, now that they’ve got a first-hand perspective on how Obama and his advisers run things, plus feeling the pressure mounting against the Democrats in an election year, Pelosi and Reid are singing a very different tune — no, the same tune — as the W.H. They are betting everything on President Obama and his far-left agenda.

And the scary thing is that they are willing to destroy a colleague’s reputation and career to get it done.
