Christmas is probably the most important tradition and holiday of the year. But the Senate health care bill is also the most enslaving and damaging bill in our history.
Yet Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is raising the white flag and packing up to go home for the holiday. He’s worked out a deal (deal?!) with Harry Reid (D-NV) to vote on the bill first thing in the morning of Christmas Eve. Why prolong the agony of defeat when you can surrender bright and early, in time to make it home for lunch with the family?
Sen. McConnell is not fit to be an opposition leader. Americans expect a fight until the end. Use any available arsenal.
Thankfully, Sens. Jim DeMint (R-SC) and John Engisn (R-NV) aren’t giving up so easily. The senators now challenge the constitutionality of the health care bill and will force a vote tomorrow:
Today, U.S. Senators Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) and John Ensign (R-Nevada), raised a Constitutional Point of Order on the Senate floor against the Democrat health care takeover bill on behalf of the Steering Committee, a caucus of conservative senators. The Senate will vote tomorrow on the bill’s constitutionality.
The Democrats with their 60-seat majority will no doubt vote that the bill is constitutional. Obviously, that has no meaning since Congress is not a court, but it will show on record which senators are Constitution morons (I’m guessing 60 of them). My hope is that this will be publicized and allow the American people to return to our Constitution. Know what these power hungry politicians are doing to your rights. (And no, health care coverage is not a constitutional right.)
I applaud DeMint and Ensign’s efforts! For this year if senators miss Christmas with families and Americans turn on C-SPAN during the holiday, it will actually be a good sign for our nation.
