Out goes Dodd, Dorgan, and possibly more

I don’t know about you, but Sen. Chris Dodd’s (D-CT) announcement of not seeking reelection made my leg tingly with joy. And there’s even better news as we learn that Democrats are vulnerable in other battleground states, especially Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-NV) seat:

Most striking is the plight of Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat. After shepherding the health-care bill through the Senate — making deals throughout that Republicans decried — the Nevada senator finds himself in a pickle with 11 months to go before midterm Election Day.

Mr. Reid has been polling in the mid-40s in recent surveys, trailing two Republicans hoping to unseat him. In addition, the latest Rasmussen poll found 49 percent of Nevada voters have a “very unfavorable opinion” of Mr. Reid.

Sen. Dodd, one of the longest serving and — may I add — controversial senators will probably be missed by Wall Street. He made #1 on Judicial Watch’s top ten corrupt politicians of 2009. He, along with Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), have been very intimate with government-backed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, really two legalized mortgage-laundering organizations which contributed to the housing bubble in late 2008. Dodd also received preferred loans from Countrywide Financial.

All in all, his deeds stink to high heaven. Good riddance. The country is better without him in Congress.
