After delivering a blow to the American people by passing the health care bill without bipartisan support, some Senate Democrats are realizing the mistake and worried about their 2010 prospects. Enough so that the so-called moderate Democrats are lobbying the White House not to push for cap-and-trade legislation.
Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Evan Bayh (D-IN), Ben Nelson (D-NE), and Kent Conrad (D-ND) are urging their leadership to go slow on the climate bill.
The funny thing is that they brought up the fact that the Senate ought to focus on fixing the economy first before considering cap-and-trade. Yet they passed the deficit-busting health care bill? Such absurdity.
But after the passage of the health care bill, now the Obama White House knows it has the Senate by its gonads. It knows it can push Harry Reid (D-NV) around and get him to buy other Senate Democrat votes. This Congress is nothing but an extension of the White House. And the White House is demonstrating that it doesn’t care losing the Congressional majority in 2010 — all it wants is to push its socialist agenda. (Yes, I said it: socialist.)
At this point the constituents of those sold-out Senate Democrats have little faith in their representative. Good luck getting re-elected in 2010!
