Which is more important: Global warming or ObamaCare?

Aren’t the polar glaciers melting at unprecedented rates? Isn’t the ozone layer depleting rapidly? Aren’t temperatures rising all across the globe? What can we do to stop cows from farting humans into oblivion?

The world is ending, at least according to the liberal, anti-capitalist eco-nuts and global warming alarmists! And that includes U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

If our Earth is really in such deep trouble, then wouldn’t it make sense for us to do whatever we can to stop the climate disaster from happening? All of us should focus on rushing the climate bill through the Senate!

Nope. Obviously, U.S. health care reform takes precedence over the livelihood of all human population. Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and John Kerry (D-MA) have postponed the climate change bill to make room for ObamaCare:

Last week, Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and John Kerry (D-Mass.) pushed back a self-imposed deadline to release a climate bill this week, citing the Senate’s focus on health care. They’re not expecting to take action until at least later in September.

That leaves just two months before the Copenhagen talks for five other committees to review the legislation and for Democratic leadership to craft the results into a comprehensive bill and secure passage by the full Senate. It’s a particularly ambitious goal, given the vocal skepticism of coal- and manufacturing-state Democrats.

The setback puts additional pressure on the White House to muscle legislation out of the Senate before the talks.

Whew! I’m now very glad that our senators do not feel the urgency in righting our planet’s temperature. If they feel safe about it, then I feel safe about it.
