O’Keefe crossed the line?

James O’Keefe did a fine job to expose the corruption at ACORN field offices across the nation. But he may have gone too too far with his latest activism by attempting to tamper with Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D-LA) office telephone equipment. The FBI arrested him and three other cohorts. If O’Keefe indeed conducted illegal activities, then he ought to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The Right ought to come to terms with this. If O’Keefe is convicted for his actions, it will be a blow not only to conservatives but also freelance reporters. Professional journalists no doubt can use this as a case against the freelancers and bloggers for not respecting journalistic ethics.

Such a shame, but you nailed right. It was a bonehead move and if he is lucky he can get the charges knocked down to a misdemeanor as an accessory. He wasn’t impersonating the telephone repairman, nor did he touch the phones.

If not, he faces a Felony conviction and jail time, such a wasted life. Sigh!
