ACORN sprouting like a weed

After multiple ACORN staff members were caught on video for giving unsound and illegal advice to a pair of undercover conservative activists, the organization has had to endure not only embarrassment but also discontinued government grants and eventual bankruptcy.

Or that’s what its leadership wanted the world to think. In reality, according to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa, various local ACORN offices opted to change their names and continue to “serve” their respective communities. Yes, ACORN is not only a nut, but also a weed that’s hard to get rid of.

I applaud Rep. Issa for continuing to keep an eye on ACORN. This organization and its affiliates, no matter under what name, needs to be monitored and audited simply because of its history of corruption.
