United States Attorney General Eric Holder has been one of the vocal critics of Arizona’s immigration law (SB 1070) since it was signed by Governor Jan Brewer on April 23.  Mr. Holder has repeatedly expressed his concerns regarding the law including its possible encroachment on federal statutes and the likeliness that it will result in racial profiling.

Apparently, Attorney General Holder was utilizing his still undisclosed psychic abilities in reviewing the legislation, because today, during his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, Attorney General Holder admitted that he has not actually read the Arizona law.
“I have not had a chance to…I’ve glanced at it.”  -  U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s response when asked if he’s read the law on May 13.
As a non-psychic non-attorney conservative , I took the time to read the law and I posted some thoughts in “Razing Arizona” which was published on this site (April 28).  The 17-pages was relatively easy to understand and it took very little time to review the entire law, so the claim that the review is still in progress, almost a month after the law was passed, seems disingenuous to me.  Although I am no longer surprised to hear a member of the progressive left admitting he hasn’t read a bill or law, I am surprised that the left hasn’t claimed that they have developed their psychic abilities which has made actual reading of bills and laws obsolete.  They have certainly claimed many other things that are much more far fetched than having a little ESP.

“I’ve only made the comments that I’ve made on the basis of things that I’ve been able to glean by reading newspaper accounts, obviously, television, talking to people who are on the review panel…looking at the law.”  -  Attorney General Holder
