United States Attorney General Eric Holder has been one of the vocal critics of Arizona’s immigration law (SB 1070) since it was signed by Governor Jan Brewer on April 23. Mr. Holder has repeatedly expressed his concerns regarding the law including its possible encroachment on federal statutes and the likeliness that it will result in racial profiling.
“I think the potential for racial profiling is certainly increased by the passage of such laws.” – U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder on May 11, 2010.
“I have not had a chance to…I’ve glanced at it.” - U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s response when asked if he’s read the law on May 13.
“I’ve only made the comments that I’ve made on the basis of things that I’ve been able to glean by reading newspaper accounts, obviously, television, talking to people who are on the review panel…looking at the law.” - Attorney General Holder
