Questionable ethics of TSA nominee

Liar, liar, pants on fire. Except this time it’s not the Crotch Bomber, but Obama’s nominee to lead the TSA, Erroll Southers:

Southers, a former FBI agent, has described inconsistencies in his accounts to Congress as “inadvertent” and the result of poor memory of an incident that dates back 20 years. He said in a Nov. 20 letter to key senators obtained by The Post that he had accepted full responsibility long ago for a “grave error in judgment” in accessing confidential criminal records about his then-estranged wife’s new boyfriend.

His letter to Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.), chairman of the Senate homeland security committee, and Susan Collins (Maine), the ranking Republican on the panel, attempts to correct statements about the episode that were made in a sworn affidavit on Oct. 22 and have been reported.

No wonder the Republicans held up the approval of this position. Mr. Southers ought to explain himself (if he can). And no, let’s not have this man lead the TSA, the federal agency in charge of airport and airline security.

Especially when his boss is also such a genius:

President Obama publicly acknowledged for the first time a link between Al Qaeda and the 23-year-old Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up Northwest Airlines Flight 253 as it approached the Detroit airport on Christmas Day.“It appears that he joined an affiliate of Al Qaeda, and that this group — Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula — trained him, equipped him with those explosives and directed him to attack that plane headed for America,” Obama said of the suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, in his weekly radio and Internet address.

Umm, ya think? With all the counter-terrorism resources in the federal and state governments, it took the president how many days to finally acknowledge this?

Still, Americans won’t find comfort in knowing that the administration wants to make a deal with the terrorist and, of course, try him as a common criminal:

Asked why Abdulmutallab should cooperate given his right, as criminal defendant, to remain silent, Brennan replied: ”He doesn’t have to but he knows there are certain things that are on the table… if he wants to engage with us in a productive manner, there are ways he can do that.”

I have one request before everyone gets “productive”… Can we at least make him wear underwear sewn with juicy, delicious bacon while “engaging” with Abdulmutallab? That’s not torture. That’s enhancing the interrogation atmosphere.

It gets worse. Evidently the terrorism czar, John Brennan, was notified of underwear bombs back in October by our ally Saudi Arabia.

Do you feel safe yet?
