Once in a while anti-Israeli organizations and enemies of Israel would plan a publicity stunt to draw the attention of world media into painting the country as an oppressive, bloodthirsty regime bent on imprisoning those poor Palestinians. Well, it was that time again as pro-Palestinian activists departed from Turkey decided to make the stunt of penetrating the Israeli naval blockade.
Keep in mind, though: 1) Israel does allow aid to enter Gaza, provided its military is allowed to inspect on board. 2) Many flotilla passengers were armed with metal bars, scissors, knives, etc. in anticipation of a confrontation. 3) Israel had repeatedly warned that it will do its best to uphold the blockade.
So the flotilla knew of the serious consequences, yet they still decided to proceed. Not for humanitarian reasons, but for publicity at the expense of human lives. In fact, a spokesperson of the organizer of the flotilla, Free Gaza, said this [emphasis mine]:
“What we’re trying to do is open a sea lane between Gaza and the rest of the world,” Greta Berlin said in Cyprus. “We’re not trying to be a humanitarian mission. We’re trying to say to the world, ‘You have no right to imprison a million and a half Palestinians.’”
When Israeli commandos roped from a helicopter onto one of the ships, they were dragged and beaten senselessly. In fact, they were armed with paintball rifles. Yes, toy guns. Obviously they also had pistols as a last resort to defend themselves — and many did end up having to use real bullets to kill the aggressors — but when have you heard of the elite IDF going in with friggin’ paintball guns?
Israel could’ve easily fired torpedoes to stop the boat, but guess what? It was trying to minimize casualties and therefore decided to send in its men into harm’s way. Unfortunately, they were overwhelmingly outnumbered.
The pro-Palestinian stunt paid off. Friends and enemies of Israel promptly lined up to condemn the violence, and the puppet that is the U.N. is ready to do antisemitic bidding. Isn’t it somewhat odd that the Security Council hasn’t said a thing about the North Koreans sinking a South Korean ship (killing 26 sailors), yet so quick to point fingers at Israel when a dozen people died because of their aggression?
The mainstream media might as well receive their pay from the U.N. too. In just about every article written about this from the MSM, you’ll see the word “Palestinian aid” more often than not, but clearly the flotilla wasn’t about helping anyone. Rather it aimed at damaging Israel’s reputation.
