It’s OK to meet with Iranian officials but not the Dalai Lama

Since 1991 the U.S. president has always met the Dalai Lama whenever he’s in town, but looks like President Obama will break the streak. The obvious reason? China.

Beijing has got the White House by its you-know-what because we depend on China’s buying of American debt to finance our skyrocketing spending. It’s apparent that aids have advised the president not to do anything to anger the Chinese, including meeting with the Dalai Lama, the exiled spiritual leader of Tibetans.

Dalai Lama, a religious man and Nobel Peace Prize winner, gets snubbed by the administration. Yet President Obama and his men have no problem meeting with Iranian nuclear-crazed leader Ahmadinejad and his officials.

What message are we sending to the world with this gesture? That an oppressive government can dictate our president’s action as long as it has hoards of money? It’s a shame.
