Releasing Lockerbie bomber: stupidity, not compassion

Well done, Scotland. You have utterly failed to show the world humanism and compassion; instead, you’ve shamed your people and demonstrated to the world of your foolishness and stupidity. By setting free Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi for him to return to his homeland, Libya, because of his terminal cancer, you sent home an unrepentant terrorist involved in the gruesome murder of more than two hundred innocent people.

He arrived in Libya a national hero. Chartered jet. Red carpet. Hugs from Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Jubilant crowds. And they waved Scotland’s flag.

It made me sick to my stomach, and I’m not even a Scot.

Was it really foolish compassion? Seif al Islam Gaddafi, son of the colonel, said this in an interview:

“In all commercial contracts, for oil and gas with Britain, (Megrahi) was always on the negotiating table,” he said.

“All British interests were linked to the release of Abdelbaset al Megrahi.”

In other words, compassion my arse! The U.K. wanted to be Libya’s preferred European business partner. Of course, Britain is now pointing fingers at Scotland, and vice versa. All the while the families of victims of Pan Am 103 suffers through seeing this mass murderer going home to his family.

Now the world knows that in Scotland, justice doesn’t get served. It gets mocked.
